Los colores de Wiphala
Escrita durante el 2024 por encargo de Cultura Artística para la temporada de reapertura del
renovado Teatro Cultura Artística de São Paulo, Brasil.
Esta obra está dedicada a la São Paulo Chamber Soloists y a su director fundador Alejandro
Aldana, quienes realizaron el estreno mundial el 24 de noviembre del 2024.
Inspirada en el concepto de los siete colores que componen la bandera Wiphala,
Símbolo andino que representa la pluralidad de naciones, lengua, culturas y pensamientos.
Este símbolo también fue adoptado por los guaraníes.
Sus siete colores son:
Rojo: La Tierra y el hombre andino.
Naranja: Sociedad y cultura.
Amarillo: Energía y fuerza.
Blanco: Tiempo y cambio.
Verde: Recursos y riqueza naturales.
Azul: El Cosmos.
Violeta: Gobierno andino y autodeterminación.
Estos conceptos están representados de una manera muy libre mediante la utilización de giros
melódicos y rítmicos de reminiscencias andinas como ser la baguala, el carnavalito y el malambo,
a lo largo de los tuttis y también solos en las diferentes secciones de las cuerdas que aparecen
acompañados por texturas que sugieren paisajes imaginarios.
En esta obra se intenta reflejar la alegría y dinamismo de los colores que representan las energías
y fuerzas, así como también la soledad ante la infinidad del Cosmos donde también se integra
la melancolía y atmosferas de un tango misterioso.
El compositor utiliza algunos elementos de la música popular como fuente de inspiración,
pero con la intención de desarrollar un lenguaje personal, un folclore inventado, donde estas
raíces sudamericanas se fusionan con procedimientos de la música europea contemporánea.

Written during 2024 commissioned by Cultura Artística for the reopening season of the
renovated Theater Cultura Artística in São Paulo, Brazil.
This work is dedicated to the São Paulo Chamber Soloists and its founding director Alejandro
Aldana, who performed the world premiere on November 24, 2024.
Inspired by the concept of the seven colors that make up the Wiphala flag, an Andean symbol that
represents the plurality of nations, language, cultures and thoughts.
This symbol was also adopted by the Guaraní.
Its seven colors are:
Red: The Earth and the Andean man.
Orange: Society and culture.
Yellow: Energy and strength.
White: Time and change.
Green: Natural resources and wealth.
Blue: The Cosmos.
Violeta: Andean Government and self-determination.
These concepts are represented in a very free way through the use of melodic and rhythmic turns of
Andean reminiscences such as the baguala, the carnavalito and the malambo, throughout the tuttis
and also alone in the different sections of the strings that appear accompanied by textures that
suggest imaginary landscapes.
In this work we try to reflect the joy and dynamism of the colors that represent the energies
and forces,as well as the loneliness before the infinity of the Cosmos where the melancholy
and atmospheres of a mysterious tango are also integrated.
The composer uses some elements of popular music as a source of inspiration, but with the intention
of developing a personal language, an invented folklore, where these
South American roots are fused with rocedures of contemporary European music.
